Hi there Everybody!
So, I guess to introduce the site, even though I really have NOTHING up, I should explain that this blog will be solely for food related info. Recipes, recipe reviews, cooking tips and tricks, nutritional tidbits of info, and if I can ever master a camera again, presentation attempts!
To kick this off, I am going to include the first recipe I ever really shared and if you are a fan of Olive garden, it will be pretty familiar to you.
Heather's Rip off Toscano soup
1 lb Mild Italian Sausage
1 Packet of real Bacon bits
1 bunch of kale(Cut down/sliced thin)
1 yellow onion (diced)
1/2 pint of whipping cream (or less to your tasting)
1 Quart Chicken stock
Brown meat - drain grease leaving only a small bit left and throw in onions. Cook them down. add back in the meat. Add stock and kale - simmer 15-20 minutes. At the end, add end 1/2 cup at a time of cream (until you get the creaminess you want-taste in between) and all the bacon. Serve and nom. BTW - I occasionally add small red potato and celery.
If you want potatoes, you can definitely add them and the original soup does include them.. My friend Caryn will also have to comment because she has added cream of potato soup that adds the taste of potato, replaces the heavy cream, and is supa easy.
Enjoy!
